If you exist in the bay area, you've likely heard through various digital and promotional channels, word of a "Surreal Power Rangers" feature film being produced by parties unknown. Links, such as the following, speak volumes of this mysterious new work of avant garde cinema

And now, Gregg Golding (of Millipede Handjob and Odynophagia) has emerged from the electric mist to formally claim responsibility....
When asked for comment, the stylish 24 year old writer/director, spoke into a painted conch shell, and issued the following statement:
"The barriers of fear based reality send us gripping the fragmented destructions of our patched together broken glass. This is a film that meets us at such limits, takes us to a new awakening. And also reps the illest of Japanese Tokusatsu(costumed action entertainment) in an erotic and culturally satirical context. This is an urgent))) cinematic text message to my fellow children of the 90's. Watch out son"

LIZA'S SPLIT TONGUE: The art of tongue bifurcation
Millipede Handjobs first feature film "Struggled Reagans" is 5 weeks into production. We are 1/7th complete at the time of writing. This feature film will be a surrealist, brutal, saterical, erotically charged take on the Japanese tradition of "Tokusatsu"
Good graces of the cosmos have given the perfect cast of souls, that are the films performers. The act of getting humans to embody the 13 speaking roles was a three month process, and was difficult, not without false starts, and other unexpected jumping from the woodwork.
Maya, the goddess of delusion, was one of the harder roles to cast. To find a young female with the necessary, depth of soul, aggressive brutality, ineffable charm, the right look. All that<, and the character had to have a split tongue. I went to alot of goth and bdsm events and found nothing. I scoured BME and only found 3 or 4 in the bay area. I was gonna fly one split tongue Ms from LA that skype auditioned, but it wasn't in the cards really, even tho we liked each other, and exchanged sexy txts and lewd pics (thats probubly why it failed, keep it professional my classmates)
Then, just as I almost cast a random psychotic girl who didn't fit the role (you know who your are Ms. M) I had the fortune to meet, an audition Liza, who Carly (the actress playing Evie) had met from Frank Garvey's Omni Circus(www.omnicircus.com)
Liza was very cool, and is now in the film. I paid for her to get her tongue split, which she wanted to do anyway ( Cuz it's cool, and probubly deeper reasons, she also had a lost love who had one) She's now perfect for the role, and is preparing for her scenes as it heals(I think it's close). Here's footage of the procedure. The atmosphere was very mystic. And she handled it with alot of amazing strength. Its kind of like those tribal rites of passage where they make an artistic pattern through a thousand cuts on a guys back in Africa (to make him a man), though this was only one cut, still the same vibe (It made her Maya, though I'm sure she had her more organic, less theoretical definition of the zone the precedure brought her to). Please show your young children or elderly:

Antipop Consortium: Fluorescent black- Review
RATING: 9 (out of 10)
"Man I cant disseminate, between the track the dinner plate/ the sky the street, the who, the why, the love, the hate, the interstate/ So I switch and flip another tarot card and penetrate/ through the body of the beats tempting me to similate"-M. Sayyid-Florescent black
He also says "This bitch is sci fi, this bitch is Wi fi/ put them together what you get is Lady Gaga"(if just to check mark a time capsule stone) in that same transfixing pom pom cheer shaped cadence that closes APC's best album.
This really feels like an advancement and a return to form for the group of rapper/producers M. Sayyid, H Prizm, and Beans (and engineer Earl Blaize, who outdoes himself leaving the album just subtley processed enough to give it an etherial transcendence. He'll distort a line like "Sometimes I rhyme in Canopy" said by HP, and you'll be like "Oh I get it, the distortions the canopy,...cool")
It's ironic that many of the inaugural ingredients of their "Anti Pop" has become pretty common place in mainstream Hip Hop. Every other thing on the radio being a pretty crazy electro tinged rap jam. And whats impressive about this record is how the production, and refined cadences now finally sound AS GOOD as pop songs (You could argue 2005's Airborn Audio LP with just M. and HP was like that, but this is better)
H Prizm comes off well. Shaping his surrealist battle rhymes often with winding "a Milli" like cadences, and a more cooled down, swagger raised vocal tone then previous projects. Sayyid seems equally observant of the times and inventive with his flow, as always staying the most starkly visual cat. Beans kind of just sounds the same as always (even reusing the same "Walnut to a raisin" line from Shock city Maverick, as if we wanted to hear it again) He also seems slightly more generic an less aggressive than before. Where are the anal sex references of his solo albums? He more plays the old school battle rapper. Still his cram chaos-and-syllable-clumps-into-a-pattern flow is still singularly entertaining (and relevant) and without him we'd just have Airborn Audio.
The three Rappers really are all completely differant, and it's entertaining to judge who was victorious with the best verse on each track (Cuz it is unpredictable)
They cover alot of territory. To the straight up UK Grime cadences of "C thru U" club rap of "Get Lite" the deep bass growl and British woman chorused "Super Unfrontable" Squaky phantom and undulating tones of the apacalyptic title track. Roots Manuva gives a strong verse in the single guest appearance on "Ny to Tokyo"
Overall a deep an rewarding release, and one of my favorites of 09
